NATURAL CYCLE IVF
The birth of the first child after IVF became possible thanks natural cycle IVF. Since 1978, the protocols for oocyte retrieval have been modified several times, but even now natural cycle IVF remains a reasonable alternative for many patients.
WE RECOMMEND NATURAL CYCLE IVF IN THE FOLLOWING CASES:
- patients with poor ovarian reserve, as well as those who failed to respondadequately to standard protocols in previous IVF attempts (cases of so-called “poor ovarian response”)
- patients with a high risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome(OHSS)
- patients with contraindications for hormone treatment (for example, patients with a history of cancer or allergies to medications)
COMPARED WITH CONVENTIONAL OVARIAN STIMULATION SCHEMES,
NATURAL CYCLE IVF HAS ADVANTAGES:
- lower price
- no negative effects associated with hormone therapy
- there is no necessity for pause in treatment; natural cycle IVF can be performed every month
Nevertheless, it should be borne in mind that natural cycle IVF results in lower success rate, and the probability of obtaining a high-quality embryo for subsequent transfer into the uterus does not exceed 50–60%.
